david petraeus stepped down as the circumstances surrounding his resignation come pouring in, so do the questions from key lawmakers on capitol hill. i'm joined by thooe na jones. there's some pointed criticism being corrected at the fbi right now. >> that's right. this was a big topic of conversation on all the sunday shows here. a lot of forceful talk with members of congress on both sides. let's listen real quick to what new york representative peter king, a republican, had to say on "state of the union" this morning. >> the fbi director have the obligation to tell the president or the national security council at the earliest state. so it's been going on for several months, and now they are saying the fbi didn't realize until election day that general petraeus was involved. it just doesn't add up. >> so peter king, as you heard him say, he has a lot of questions. he wants to know when the investigation began and if they got a court order. a lot of questions from him. we also heard from diane feinstein who is the democrat who is the senate intelligence committee share. . she's go
cut. >> i want to hit this for you finally. we're going to see david petraeus come to the hill to testify tomorrow. are you concerned over the way the fbi handled the situation so far? specifically when you look at this? do you think the president should have been told about the investigation earlier? >> well, i'm on homeland security and my first priority is to ensure the national security of this nation but as well i want to not have us forget that we lost four valiant americans and we must continue to mourn them. it must be a sad time for their family. but i believe in process. and i do believe there is a time when the president of the united states should be notified. however, the fbi proceeds in investigations all the times. we should have some standards as to whether or not the fbi was in order in looking at what i consider may have been private matters. if it had to do with national security or they thought a crime was in play and they had the right to do so, i don't think we have the necessary standards. it looks like we don't have a test or at least it seems that we as

now. retired general david petraeus resigned on friday after admitting an affair. the other woman is again paula broadwell, who co-wrote his biography, the book "all in the education of general petraeus." this past spring as we mentioned, broadwell sent at the time anonymous harassing e-mails to jill kelley. kelley talked to her fbi friend launching the investigation. turns out the initial agent on the case, according to the "wall street journal," was removed from the case when he reportedly became obsessed with the case and even sent shirtless photos of himself to miss kelley. it gets stranger. new today, we have learned kelley also received some inappropriately flirtatious e-mails, self-described from four star marine general john allen. he denies an extramarital affair with kelley and insists he did nothing wrong. but the pentagon is investigating thousands of documents and e-mails, some of them were apparently flirtatious. turns out both allen and petraeus stepped in to help kelley's twin sister, natalie, in a custody battle with her ex-husband. both generals wrote letters on
